I've finally succumbed to steam and I'm currently installing it on my laptop. Before I buy any games though I would like to know if I need to be connected to the internet to play the games that I've downloaded. Pretty soon I won't have much internet but would still like to play my games.

Only if it's a game that depends on multiplayer, otherwise yeah you can play games offline
