    "Crass- The Argument Against"

Post by MidlandsDan on Fri Oct 02, 2009 2:46 pm

Something I stumbled across. Doesn't really say a great deal but I thought seeing as there are a lot of punk fans on here people might find it interesting or have something to say. So take a look if you want.

ffs this should clearly be in music discussion. Do I really have to revoke your right to start new topics?

I rememeber reading that years ago when Punk77 was a great place for me to go when I got obsessed with 70s stuff. It's a very good argument, and the problem I think is Anarcho-Punk draws a line in the sand that says if you don't agree with us, you're not with us. It feels a very extreme genre because it's politics translated to music, rather than music being applied to politics. I'd like to have gone to a Crass quat party back in the day which featured all this spoken word and poetry and film and media as well as a live band but that can never be. I see what Crass were doing but musically I can't listen to them, and at the end of the day their music just isn't very fun!

I love Punk77, I used to go on their board 'Talk Punk' but it quickly became dead. Good site I must say.

As for Crass, I love their music, I just think that they have a lot of arrogant issues as far as punk goes, its almost as if they have some sort of right to dictate to people what Punk is or isn't.
