Looks to me like a piss weak substanceless version of The Shield, but then, The Shield is pretty damn good.

Instead of Southland, watch The Wire. It's my second favourite TV series. Only just behind Battlestar Galactica.

On the subject of these American cop shows, seen Homicide? I think it was the predecessor to The Wire. Everyone said to me, 'oh yeah Dan it's boss,' but when I saw it it struck me as just a pointless by the numbers acting out of the book Homicide.
